In the last few years, quite a few cooks and dieters have discovered that cauliflower can be a handy and healthy alternative to rice and many other foods high in carbs, starch, and fat.

However, the amount of time and effort it takes to prepare cauliflower rice may give you pause. Fortunately, fresh-frozen cauliflower rice is an excellent alternative to DIY methods of preparation.

The Benefits Of Cauliflower Rice

Cauliflower packs quite the nutritional punch, being a good source of fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K. Cauliflower also contains trace amounts of potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and manganese to supplement your diet.

While regular white rice would leave you feeling bloated or tired after you’ve eaten, cauliflower is a dense, low-calorie food that holds water. Eating cauliflower rice promotes a feeling of fullness without the lingering hunger.

Low-Calorie and Low-Carb

For all the macro number-crunchers out there, when it comes to nutritional value, cauliflower rice contains only 50 calories per 200g serving tray. What makes cauliflower rice even more appealing from a nutritional standpoint is that a serving of our cauliflower rice contains less than a fifth of the carbohydrates of white rice.

Since cauliflower is so naturally filling and easily makes a tasty entree, it is almost guaranteed to help you cut back on your daily caloric intake when it’s served as part of a balanced meal. Cauliflower has become a popular staple in many low-carb or ketogenic diets, and its versatility is a highlight, too.

Cauliflower makes such a healthy alternative to rice, pasta, potatoes, and other foods. Even though it doesn’t have much in the way of flavor on its own, you can transform the flavor with a touch of olive oil, butter, or salt.

You can even add other condiments such as liquid smoke or soy sauce to transform it into a savory and filling alternative to all of the starchy and carb-heavy foods that leave many of us feeling run down at the end of the day.

Ready-to-Heat Cauliflower Rice is Easy

When you use cauliflower as a substitute for white rice, it can take some effort to get the texture right. In short, it’s labor-intensive and time-consuming, though the benefits are worth it. At home, you can make cauliflower rice by finely chopping it with a knife. Or, you can use a food processor, potato masher, or even a cheese grater, just remember to tuck those fingers!

The beauty of a simple dish like cauliflower rice is that there are countless ways to turn it into a healthy and nourishing side dish, or even an entree. For example, you can add fresh herbs, spices, or even vegetables to season the cauliflower rice, or you can serve it with a sauce of your choice.
